Via Ferrata for kids
Hello families! Via ferratas is not an adults only fun exercise. This via ferrata for young climbing pros is a magical Pirate Ferrata for future climbers both big and small. Get your gear and give it a try. We promise pure climbing pleasure. This route through a pirate’s world on the rocks is as exciting as the climbing itself. Swing yourself right into the ferrata via a climbing net. Slip past trees, discover a real ship's wheel, climb uphill over pirate sabres. You bet there might be a real life pirate waiting for you. All hikers across the Speikboden area get notified that another little pirate has managed the big climb on the children's via ferrata, when hearing the ship bell ring. Kids from 6 years of age and their accompanying adults will have the greatest fun at Pirate’s Rock just a short walk from the Speikboden cable car exit.
Difficulty: A/B (easy), from 6 to 12 years old
Start/Finish Point: Station Speikboden Alm at 2000 m, reachable by cablecar
Entrance: 50 m in altitude, 20 min
Ascent: 70 m in altitude, 1 hour
Time needed in total: min. 2 hours

Rental of the equipment
It is possible to rent the equipment for the Via Ferrata at the mountain station of the cablecar Speikboden. The daily rate for the complete equipment (climbing harness, set Via Ferrata and helmet) is as follows:
- full set for adults: 16,00 €
- full set for children under 16 years: 8,00 €
- 8,00 € for single parts of the equipment (e.g. only a set Via Ferrata or only a helmet)
For each paying adult, one kid under the age of 12 years can borrow via ferrata equipment for the same time period free of charge.The rental equipment can also be booked ONLINE.
