Hike to the lake Klaussee

Nestled within the majestic panorama of the Zillertal Alps, standing tall at a proud altitude of 2,162 meters, awaits a genuine natural wonder – the Klaussee. Here, where crystal-clear water meets a breathtaking mountain backdrop, you'll find the perfect retreat to unwind and recharge.

Klaussee is no ordinary mountain lake. Shielded from the wind, cradled by the powerful Jochkofel, and offering unparalleled views of the 80 three-thousand-meter peaks of the Zillertal Alps, this place is a sanctuary of peace and relaxation. But that's not all: It's easily accessible. Directly from the mountain station, a scenic trail leads to this remarkable natural gem, ensuring everyone can experience this magical spot.

Let the natural beauty of Klaussee enchant you and embark on an unforgettable day hike amidst the Alps. Take a moment for yourself, breathe deeply, and feel the stresses of daily life fade away in the distance. Klaussee in Klausberg awaits you!

lake Klaussee 2.162m

Ascent with the K-Express cable car from Steinhaus up to 1,600m. Following trail no. 33 you pass a series of rustic huts. After almost 1.5 hours, you reach your destination at 2,162m above sea level: the Klaussee lake is located in a basin below the Jochkofel.
It is worth taking a tour around the lake to enjoy the beautiful view across the water to the Zillertal Alps. Wild berries and alpine roses thrive in the heathland, while marmots whistle an alarm in the piles of stones. The descent follows the same route. Those wishing to extend the tour can climb even higher or extend it to a circular hike through the Breite Rast and Großklausen valley.
