Hike to Klaussee
1,600 – 2,162 m
Take the K-Express cable car from Steinhaus up to 1,600 metres.
Following trail no. 33, the hike leads past a series of traditional huts. After around 1.5 hours, you will reach your destination at 2,162 metres above sea level: Klaussee, beautifully nestled beneath the Jochkofel peak.
Our tip: walk around the lake and enjoy the stunning reflections of the Zillertal Alps on the crystal-clear water. With a bit of luck, you may witness a magical natural spectacle when the sunlight hits the lake at just the right moment and mirrors the surrounding mountain range.
Along the heathland, wild berries and alpine roses bloom, while marmots can often be spotted among the rocky slopes.
Return via the same trail. If you would like to extend the tour, you can continue higher into the mountains or turn the hike into a circular route via Breite Rast and the Großklausen valley.
