Health path Prettau/Predoi
In Prettau/Predoi, South Tyrol’s first Health Village, special emphasis is placed on tranquillity, slowing down, and the harmony between people and nature. Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, visitors find the ideal conditions to recharge their batteries and sustainably enhance their well-being.
The Prettau/Predoi Health Trail, stretching for approximately 4 kilometres, invites visitors to experience the health-promoting power of nature with all their senses. Physical activity in the fresh mountain air, shaded forest sections, breathtaking panoramic views and numerous places to pause and reflect make this trail a unique experience for body and mind. One of its highlights is the Röt- Waterfall, whose fine water droplets and natural aerosols help to moisten the respiratory tract and, together with the pure mountain air, are considered particularly beneficial for breathing. Consciously inhaling this fresh, clean air can help restore energy and promote a greater sense of well-being.
Along the trail, a natural pond, various water-based wellness stations and a diverse barefoot path invite visitors to experience nature up close. Walking on different natural surfaces stimulates the soles of the feet, enhances sensory awareness and creates an immersive nature experience. Another special place is the energy spot near the Holy Spirit Church, which has been valued for centuries as a place of peace, contemplation and inspiration. Surrounded by a magnificent mountain landscape, visitors can pause, gain new perspectives and absorb the unique atmosphere of this historic site.
The combination of physical activity, nature experiences, pure mountain air, the waterfall’s aerosols, water applications and mindful moments of relaxation makes the Prettau Health Trail a holistic experience for body, mind and soul. It helps strengthen the body's natural defences, supports regeneration and provides renewed vitality and energy.
The Prettau/Predoi Health Trail lies between 1,545 and 1,620 metres above sea level and offers an easy walk through the natural landscape of the upper Ahrntal/Valle Aurina.
The trail is easily reached by public transport via the Bergbaumuseum/Miniera bus stop. Starting at the Prettau/Predoi Climate Gallery, it passes through the historic mining area, leading by former mine adits, the old ore-processing plant (Pochwerk) and the former miners’ settlement of Knappeneck. Forests and alpine meadows lead to the Rötbach Bridge and, via a short detour, to the Rötbach Waterfall.
Other highlights include the historic Mösern Miners’ House with its chapel, the Kneipp facility in Kasern/Casere, the Möser Locke natural pond and the barefoot trail. The route continues through the alpine landscape of Heilig Geist/Santo Spirito with its 13th-century church and on to the Kasern/Casere Nature Park Visitor Centre. The trail ends at the Kasern/Casere bus stop.
Information panels along the trail explain the health benefits of nature, physical activity, water and fresh mountain air.
