Magalí Sare & Sebastià Gris Duo
Save the date: Jazz in the mountains
This summer, the famous South Tyrolean Jazz Festival brings the improvisation and spontaneity of this musical genre to the alpine scenery. The Festival has always stood out from others for its focus on showcasing specific countries, and this year won’t be any different as it continues its voyage across Europe. Next stop? The Iberian Peninsula.
Come to us on Sunday, 30th of June 2019 at Speikboden and let yourself be inspired by the unique, genre-defying music. In the hut Sonnklar, the hut Trejer and the Speikboden mountain restaurant, talented musicians will await you and take you into the wonderful world of Jazz.

From 11.00 am
Magalí Sare & Sebastià Gris Duo - Hut Sonnklarhütte - 10.30 am
Magalí Sare (ES) – voc, b | Sebastià Gris (ES) – g
Two young musicians from the Mediterranean ascend South Tyrol’s mountains: Magalí Sare and Sebastià Gris studied at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcellona. Since 2016, the duo has been touring through the clubs in the Catalan capital and on Gris’ home island Mallorca. This morning, in front of the Sonnklarhütte on Speikboden they "open" a jazz hike at an altitude of 2,400m. Their repertoire includes jazz standards, folk music from Catalonia and Mallorca as well as songs from all over the world.
Manel Fortià & Gabriel Amargant Duo - Hut Trejer Alm - 01.00 pm
Manel Fortià (ES) – db | Gabriel Amargant (ES) – sax
The second stopover of the Speikboden jazz hike will be held at the Treyer hut by two experienced musicians, who also perform together in the Catalan club scene: Gabriel Amargant has three albums as bandleader; Marco Mezquida plays the piano in two of these albums. Manel Fortià – who forms an experimentally oriented duo with Mezquida – has recorded more than 40 recordings as leader and sideman, and lives in Barcelona and New York.
Magalí Sare Quartet - Station Speikoden Alm - 03.30 pm
Magalí Sare (ES) – voc, b | Sebastià Gris (ES) – g | Manel Fortià (ES) – db | Gabriel Amargant (ES) – sax
Pure magic: Whoever stands here can admire 150 peaks of the Dolomites, the Durreck Group and the Zillertal Alps. This afternoon, as last stop of the jazz hike, the summit station of Speikboden cable car becomes a concert stage. The young singer Magalí Sare has put together this quartet from Barcelona, which in South Tyrol might set a new altitude record for Catalan jazz musicians
